Bright single origins for slow mornings, dependable blends for every day and the tools to brew them well.

Roast date on every bagSo you always know exactly how fresh it is.
Our story
Kuro started with a simple frustration: most coffee spends weeks in a warehouse before it ever reaches a cup. So we built a roastery that works the other way around. We only roast what has been ordered, twice a week, in small batches.
We buy from a short list of farms and washing stations, pay well above commodity prices and return to the same producers year after year. That is how we know exactly where every bag comes from, and why it tastes the way it does.
Brew guide
Our starting recipes for the four most popular ways to brew. Pick the matching grind when you order, or grind whole beans just before brewing.
Bloom with twice the coffee weight in water for 30 seconds, then pour slowly in steady circles.
Break the crust at four minutes, skim off the foam, then press gently and pour right away.
Start with 18 g in and 36 g out. Grind finer if it runs fast, coarser if it tastes bitter.
Steep overnight in the fridge, strain, then dilute one to one with water or milk.
Reviews
A few words from people who start their mornings with Kuro.
The Yirgacheffe genuinely tastes like jasmine tea. I did not believe the tasting notes until my first pour-over, and now it is the only coffee I reorder.
Fresh is an understatement. My bag arrived two days after the roast date and the bloom was huge. Night Shift makes the best flat white I have made at home.
I switched our office to the House Blend and nobody has asked for the old coffee since. Easy to brew, naturally sweet and never bitter.
Questions
Still curious about something? We read every message and usually reply within one business day.
We roast every Monday and Thursday and ship within 48 hours of roasting. Standard shipping takes 3 to 5 business days and express takes 1 to 2, so most orders arrive within a week.
Place your order and we will email you a secure payment link within one business day. Nothing is charged until you pay through that link, and your coffee goes into the next roast as soon as payment is confirmed.
Whole bean stays fresh the longest, so choose it if you have a grinder. Otherwise pick the grind for your brewer: espresso is fine, pour-over is medium-fine, French press is coarse and cold brew is extra coarse.
Every bag is stamped with its roast date. Filter coffee tastes best within six weeks of roasting, and espresso blends are at their sweetest after about a week of rest.
We currently ship to the United States and Canada. Standard shipping is free on orders over $40, and express shipping is available on every order.
